DietAlgo is a mobile application designed to help dietitians manage clients, assign meal plans, and build client loyalty through streak and reward systems. References to "DietAlgo", "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to the DietAlgo service and its operators.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

• Account data: Name, email address, and password when you register as a dietitian or client.
• Profile data: Dietary goals, health objectives, and any information you voluntarily provide within the app.
• Food log data: Meals and foods you log, including meal names, quantities, and timestamps.
• Usage data: In-app activity such as streak counts, stars earned, login frequency, and feature usage.
• Device data: Device type, operating system, and app version for technical support purposes.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the DietAlgo service
• To calculate nutritional macros (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat) from logged meals using AI
• To enable dietitians to monitor their clients' progress
• To power streak tracking, star rewards, and referral features
• To send transactional emails (e.g. account credentials, plan assignments)
• To improve the app through aggregated, anonymised usage analysis

4. AI-Powered Macro Calculation

When you log a meal, the food description is processed by an AI model to estimate nutritional values (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat). This data is transmitted securely to our AI provider and is not used to train third-party models. Macro estimates are approximations and should not be treated as precise medical measurements.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these circumstances:

• Dietitian–client relationship: Clients' food logs, streak data, and progress are visible to the dietitian who manages them. By using DietAlgo as a client, you consent to this.
• Service providers: We use trusted third-party providers for hosting, payment processing, and AI services. These providers are bound by data processing agreements.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by applicable law or legal process.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability

8. Children's Privacy

DietAlgo is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us immediately.

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for data in transit and follow security best practices for data at rest. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of DietAlgo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
